Elevator music, formerly known as ‘Muzak’ or ‘Piped Music,’ has aimed for a ‘functional sound’ that fills the silence of a space and provides a sense of psychological stability without interfering with the listening experience. This album inherits that role by reconstructing the melodies of Antonio Carlos Jobim using unadorned digital synthesizer sounds.

The simple rhythms, reminiscent of karaoke accompaniment, and the clear digital textures create a pleasant harmony with the mechanical space of an elevator.
